Revelcon has come and gone for another year and Friends of Fandom has
once again run the Revelcon Art Show. This year was fairly successful.
We seem to be getting it down to a fine art. (grin)
To stay current with local conventions, be sure to follow our list
at http://clever.net/cam/concalendar.html
With the death of Control, and Contex on indefinate suspension, Houston
is looking rather sparse for Science Fiction Conventions. The big
gathering this year may turn out to be Star Base Houston's Trekfest.
If you think you would be interested in working on area Science Fiction
Conventions, please send email to cam@clever.net
New on our mailing list this time is
Jon Green from Katy.
Jon signed up on our web page where we are experimenting with
sending this out via listbot. Although we will eventually want
to use our own system, listbot has the right price (its free) so
its good for now and the rest of you should not be surprised
when you receive email saying that you signed up for the
Friends of Fandom mailing list. I plan to move you onto the
listbot system soon.
The president is calling a board meeting soon. Almong other
business we need to elect officers for the current year.
If all Friends of Fandom board members would email me
(clifton@cs.uh.edu) with times of the week which are good/impossible
for you, it would expedite matters. We are talking about having
the board meeting at University of Houston since it is fairly
central and has no cats to activate Alison's allergies.
This meeting, like most Friends of Fandom meetings, is open
to any interested individuals.
I'm not sure how listbot handles embeded html code yet, so
this is something of an experement. Future issues may be
better looking (but probably won't be).
