You're Probably Wondering Why We Invited You Here
We don't do these updates often, the last was last December, but
fortunately electrons are cheap and we can tell you when there was a
sudden flash of news or make an important correction. This time it's
a correction, but we are adding two more snippets of news.
Red Face Department
The new Starbase Houston domain was incorrectly given as starbase.org
when it is actually starbasehouston.org. As a result the Starbase
Houston Web site, maintained by Robert Greenbaum, is
http://www.starbasehouston.org/ .
When I (Clif) went to copy the new domain name down to put in the Info
Alert, I used a low tech pen and paper and the houston disappeared into
the dark back recesses of my mind. I did check to see if the web page
was working before sending its URL out, but when I did I simply typed
the web address in from the log.
We shortly heard from Log Editor Olsen:
Hi! Thank y'all for your posting of our new Web site address for Starbase
Houston. Unfortunately, the one that is listed in this month's letter is
incorrect. Our actual domain name is www.starbasehouston.org If you
wouldn't mind, please update your records to show our full address.
Thanks!
---
Oops! Sorry about that. We will be including your email to us
(with the correction) in the next Info-Alert.
If it helps, see the Houston and/or Texas Organizations page:
http://www.clever.net/cam/clubslist.html
last updated 8/14/99. I have the correct URL on this page because
I check links to make sure they work properly before I put them
on my pages. So, if anyone who received the August Info-Alert
went on to click on the Houston and/or Texas Organizations
page given, they would have found the correct URL.

Then we heard from Dolores Bruner, Starbase Secretary:
FYI, Starbase Houston's new Web site is: www.starbasehouston.com
I am afraid you had it incorrect in the August Info-Alert, could you please
let all your "subscribers" know of the correct Web site address?
Thank you so much.
---
Dolores, Thanks for the correction and please accept my apology, both to
Starbase and to anyone who tried to use the URL. Anyone who knows both
Margaret and myself will have no question which of us is responsible for
the error.
It was actually good to see such a prompt response to the info-alert.
Sometimes it feels like you are typing into a vacuum. It was good to
know it is actually being read.
As our disclaimer always says, we can't guarantee that we got all
our information correct, but I don't usually manage to slip one
past Margaret though.

published author of over 21 Science Fiction, Military and SF/Humor
novels (including Shadowboxer for FASA, GAMMA WORLD and RAVENLOFT

http://members.aol.com/delphiainc/page/index.htm Delphia Book
Company, purely for the purpose of reprinting his cult classic BUREAU 13
trilogy, and expanding it into an on going series.
GENERAL SYNOPSIS: Bureau 13 is a secret branch of the FBI that uses
state-of-the-art military firepower, wizards and demons, to protect America
from supernatural and unearthly criminals. Well, sort of.
...
BUREAU 13 will be published as a trade paperback in November 1999.
