Not really, but we have an update on all three topics.

      Auctions:

For those of you, like me (Margaret) who were unable to
follow the link given in the January Info-Alert (which
led to a message on a bulletin board & it has scrolled
off the main screen & I don't know how to search for it)
regarding charging sales tax for items bought via the
Internet, please see the following link:

I believe this Web page contains the information which
was subsequently discussed on the message board at
AuctionWatch and at the Aphelion Webzine.

Sorry that we didn't realize that the link as given in
the InfoAlert was going to be difficult for people to
      follow a few days later.

      Galaxy

Galaxy Online seems to have fixed their site so that it no longer
kills Netscape. So if you were afraid to take a look before, you
can now. They are already into their second 'issue' with the
addition of articles by Greg Benford, Jack Dann, Mike Resnick,
and the promised story by Orson Scott Card.

      Neal Barrett Jr.

Those of you in Austin will have an opportunity to catch Neal doing a
signing at the Barnes and Noble (AKA Austin Co-Op) on Guadalupe Feb. 9.

If you don't know who Neal Barrett is, you haven't been paying
attention, but we'll give it a quick shot.

      http://www.library.swt.edu/swwc/archives/writers/barrett.html

He is the author of groundbreaking and category-shredding
speculative fiction like "Dawn's Uncertain Light",
"Through Darkest America" and "The Hereafter Gang".

He is the author of the funniest mysteries you are likely to read
(Note:They are serious mysteries, they are just insane too) with
his Blues series. And if you can find them anymore, he is the
author of a page-turning Aldair series in which a cow saves the
universe (or at least that was my (Clif's) interpretation. Hmm.
When you put it like that it sounds ludicrous, but trust me - you'll
get hooked). Personally, I (Margaret) definitely enjoyed his
Babylon 5 novel - The Touch of your Shadow, The Whisper of
      Your Name (Bk 5).

He was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters (for good reason),
      last year I believe.

None of which really captures Neal's writing or him as a person.

To give it another shot, try the Editorial reviews at

and then drop by and catch him at the book signing.
