      Random News

As of April, James Cameron, director of "Titanic", has optioned Kim
Stanley Robinson's Hugo and Nebula award winning Mars Trilogy
(_Red Mars_, _Green Mars_, _Blue Mars_). There is many a slip
between an option and a film, but can you imagine a high budget
production of the Mars books with the same loving detail as
      mega-blockbuster "Titanic"?
(_Red Mars_ was the '93 Nebula, _Green Mars_ the '94 Hugo and _Blue
Mars_ the '97 Hugo winner at the Texas Worldcon, LoneStarCon 2)

      Fannish Disasters

Our friends at the Austin specialty bookstore, Adventures in Crime
& Space, had their Internet Service Provider, eden.com, suffer a hard
disk crash during the weekend of May 31. They are still not back up
on the Web well into June. Reportedly their email is currently
undependable as well as a result of the disk crash.
If you find yourself in Austin, don't pass up the opportunity for
a MAJOR browse through SF, old and new. Call (512) 473-2665 and ask
for instructions on how to reach the store. When they return to
the web you can find them at http://www.eden.com/~acs/ .

For now, send any email comments or suggestions regarding fannish
activities/events in the greater Houston area (or within Texas) or
regarding this Info Alert to friends_of_fandom@iname.com . If you
received this Info Alert as a sample and would be interested in
receiving future editions directly, email clifton@cs.uh.edu or join
the list by entering your email address on any of the Web pages as
