The two major awards for Science Fiction Excellence are the Hugo awards selected by the readers at the World Science Fiction Convention, and the Nebula awards selected by the writers and awarded by the Science Fiction Writers of America (SFWA). While the fans of Science Fiction have displayed somewhat of a difference in taste than the writers, selection by either is the mark of a truely excellent book. The books so selected will form the central core of any good list of classics. As such, we list them here by year, the best of the best, together with links to information about many of the authors.
